When Joe McCorry and Paula Allen were sipping coffee in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York, they discussed the
challenges of keeping highly skilled employees. As they mulled over the pitfalls and battles of regular reviews, they agreed on several points
Joe and Paula’s shared experience in managing large teams had proven that the time taken for employees to shift from highly productive to putting in minimal effort could be short. It also varied between individuals. Existing corporate career management systems were not referenced during this transition phase and did not adjust to individual timeframes.
Career planning tools today need to align with other pervasive digital media, be flexible and employee driven. And so the idea of SmashPath was born.
Shortly after, Joe introduced the idea to Narelle in Singapore. Facing her own career transition Narelle loved the idea and, over a cup of chai tea, they agreed to join forces and scale up the project. Narelle’s experience in innovation and technology business development meant that she was well placed to lead the team as President of SmashPath.
The SmashPath team has a unique and diverse set of skills. They are also driven by a common passion to personalise career development, ensuring that individual dreams and company goals are aligned.
Alyssa is a data scientist passionate about using hands on tools to extract value from data for product development and provide end to end data solutions. She is a product analyst at Square, Inc., a rapidly growing financial services company rethinking the buyer and seller experience. Alyssa also has experience providing business strategy and organizational development services in the emerging Southeast Asian and East Asian markets as a corporate development consultant for ZF, a global business with over 140,000 employees. Alyssa earned her BA and MA degrees from Stanford University.

Joseph and Theresa McCorryis a vice president at ZF Friedrichshafen, a global business with over 140,000 employees and has held senior positions in North America, Asia and Europe for several joint ventures with partners like Bosch and Hitachi including managing director. Joseph has his MBA from the University of Buffalo and is an alumnae of Stanford University’s business school after completing his SEP.

Paula is vice president of human resources at First Service Residential, a business with over 14,000 people and has held vice president and director positions in human resources at Baptist Health South Florida, ranked as a top 100 employers by Fortune and 100 best companies for millennials, and the Burger King Corporation. Paula earned her degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology.

Narelle is a technical business developer with a focus on social innovation. A respected industry professional with a successful track record of initiating and developing projects in complex environments with multiple stakeholders. Her leadership roles in the Australian Cooperative Research Centre for Spatial Information resulted in a portfolio of award winning projects using big data analytics. Narelle’s collaboration with organisations in Scandinavia, South East Asia and North America created large scale adoption pathways for the analytical tools. Narelle completed her computing degree and post-graduate studies at Curtin University.
As President of SmashPath, Narelle oversees the transition from innovative idea to usable product, while keeping the team customer-focused. Placing high importance on communication with all partners, she ensures the final SmashPath products are scalable and make a measurable, positive impact.
